Many political pundits and journalists have been fear-mongering about the cost of Bernie Sanders’ policies.A new article from The Wall Street Journal states that the price tag of all his policies is $18 trillion over 10 years.
What they failed to mention is that—although the price tag seems high — it will actually cost tax payers nothing more, because he already has a plan to pay for all of these policies.
How can we pay for free college tuition? A simple transaction tax on Wall Street. What about free universal healthcare? We can cut defense spending by a small margin to pay for it immediately, but over time, ending our regressive health system will fully fund universal healthcare and give us a surplus over time.
In short: unlike Republicans and other candidates like Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders is not putting these policies on a credit card, nor will he turn us into the next Greece due to excess spending.
The below video, put out by The Humanist Report, is a great way to get the word out that Bernie’s policies do not come with a hefty price tag. There is a referenced graphic and related article in the video also. The graphic is found below the video for ease of reference.
